Shannon Lopez is an accountant who came to Wolford Companies with years of experience and a lot of enthusiasm for accounting, as well as an innate desire to learn and improve, for herself and her clients alike.

Shannon began her career in accounting as a teen, working in her parent’s small business. Shannon learned many different aspects of business from her retired Navy Chief father, and it was during these formative years that she learned how important a good accounting system is in ensuring a successful business.

After graduating from high school, Shannon moved to Georgia and continued her accounting career working in the district office of a life insurance company. Some of her many duties included weekly payroll, balancing the petty cash account, and collecting payments from policy holders.

After a few years in Georgia, Shannon found her way back home to her beloved Maryland. She continued working in the accounting field in the construction industry. During this time, her true love of accounting became apparent. Shannon began her role in the construction industry in job estimates and project budget management – ensuring that each project stayed on or below budget. Eventually, she moved into more accounting responsibilities such as certified payroll, AIA billing, A/R, A/P, and collections.

Shannon took some time off from her career to raise her two boys. Once her youngest started school, she re-entered the accounting workforce. Most recently, Shannon began her role as an Accountant at Wolford Companies. While Shannon will admit that the proximity of the W Co office to her home was the initial reason for applying for the role, she was quickly drawn-in by the company’s values. Shannon appreciates the integrity, expanse of knowledge, and commitment to be the best in the field, as it easily mirrors her own personal values.

When Shannon is not working, she loves the beach, canoeing, and enjoying all the beauty that Maryland’s Eastern Shore has to offer.
